ZenVocation 3

Week 3 (of 12)

This week, I received another tile from Week 1. I really love the contrast in the section with ‘Hollibaugh’ and how the ‘Printemps’ is in more than one place which really draws the eye around the whole tile.

I am just back from the beach, and know that others of you are there now.
To celebrate the beach, we will use a ‘beach ball’ as our string and use the tangle ‘Pepper’ as the center. Then, you can fill the remaining sections with whatever tangles you like. You can make the whole beach ball as is shown in the lower example, or just part of the ball as is shown in the top drawing.

When working with Pepper, I do not typically make the inner circle before I start working. You may, however, find it helpful to sketch it in in pencil the first few times you work with this tangle. You can also experiment with the size of the inner circle. When shading ‘Pepper’, I go around the edges of the outer circle and the inner circle at the top and bottom of the skinny triangles or ‘spokes’ on the wheel. This gives an illusion of roundness.

Remember to email me a picture of your creation from this week or an earlier week at turningtruestudios@gmail.com so a virtual mosaic can be posted for all to enjoy!
