Last weekend I got to go to Longwood Gardens, a favorite place to visit. Every visit brings new visions. When I saw this flower, I immediately thought of the rick rack and pompoms that were such a staple of decorations and clothing in the 1970s. The sunny colors and shapes made it impossible for me to feel anything but happiness when I came upon this flower and all its counterparts. The connecting power of memory and association is amazing to me. That a flower can transcend time and space is why I aim to attend to each day’s surroundings with intention.
